Honey Pot Curriculum
At Honey Pot, our curriculum is what we want children to learn while they are with us. It’s a bespoke educational framework designed around our values and vision, with the child at the heart of every decision we make. The seven areas of learning from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) are the foundation of our curriculum, which we further tailor into age-appropriate “Honey Pot Aspects” across our three core groups: Babies, Toddlers, and Pre-school. A focused School Readiness programme supports the transition to primary education.
Our curriculum is brought to life through engaging, project-based learning that reflects children’s interests and encourages deeper exploration. We also embed the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) throughout, helping children build a strong sense of global citizenship, care for the planet, and community awareness.
We provide more detail about our full curriculum during nursery viewings, and a full copy is available on request.
Honey Pot Pedagogy
Our pedagogy is how we teach children — and why we take the approaches we do. At Honey Pot, the child is always at the centre. We base our teaching on six core principles that reflect our commitment to nurturing, inspiring and supporting each child as a unique learner.
The six core principles are:
- Nurturing Relationships
- Wellbeing
- The World Around Us
- Engaging Environments
- Rich Experiences
- Teaching and Learning
Our approach is influenced by a range of respected educational theories and practices, including Reggio Emilia, Te Whāriki, Froebel, Forest School, and modern frameworks like the Curiosity Approach. These influences help shape our environment, teaching style, and daily interactions.
We use a mix of child-led learning, teachable moments, and intentional teaching — ensuring children have the freedom to explore, while also benefiting from thoughtfully planned experiences. Our ultimate aim is to support every child to grow into a confident, curious, and capable individual.
Further details about our pedagogical approach will be shared during your nursery visit, and a full overview is available upon request.
