Early Years Funding

At Honey Pot Nurseries, we are proud to offer government-funded childcare to support families with the cost of early education in England. Depending on your circumstances, your child may be eligible for 15 or 30 funded hours per week to help with nursery fees.

Government-funded Childcare

The government offers funded childcare to help families with the cost of early education.

Who can get it?
Most families in England can get funded childcare if their child is:

  • Aged 3 or 4 years old (all children are eligible for some free hours)
  • Aged 9 months to 2 years old (eligibility depends on your family’s circumstances, such as working hours and income)

How many hours are available?

  • Up to 15 hours per week for all 3- and 4-year-olds for a maximum of 38 weeks per year
  • Up to 30 hours per week for eligible working families for a maximum of 38 weeks per year
  • Up to 15 hrs per week for some 2 year olds for a maximum of 38 weeks per year

When can my child start?
Funded childcare begins the term after your child reaches the eligible age.

Important to know

  • The funded hours cover childcare and early education, however at Honey Pot we charge for extras such as meals, trips and any additional hours attended.
  • Honey Pot day nurseries are open all year round, meaning that funding is stretched to ensure that your child receives some funding each week.
  • You may also be eligible for the Tax-Free childcare government scheme which supports working families

Enhanced Provision

In line with Government Legislation, funding is intended to cover the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage, it is not intended to pay for things that at full day care settings we provide.

What is Enhanced Provision?

Government funding does not cover the cost of nutritious meals and snacks,  Famly online learning journey, extra-curricular activities,  trips, wipes, sun cream, or nappy cream. More detailed information can be found in our Enhanced Provision brochure and by checking the nutritious menus on offer.

At Honey Pot Day Nurseries we combine the cost of these items in our Enhanced Provision package - £14.00,  per 10 hours of funding (rounded to the nearest 5 hours of funding )

£5.00 – Food

£5.00 – Activities

£4.00 – Non-food consumables

This charge is not mandatory. It is our standard policy to include this charge when we allocate funding to your invoices,  however you may speak directly with your nursery manager about our Opting Out Policy.

Famly Parent App

We use an online system called Famly. We believe that using online learning journeys will allow both a rich body of evidence to support our partnership with parents and to help us plan for individual children’s development, and of course a wonderful keepsake for parents to share with their child.

The Famly app is a fully encrypted, GDPR-compliant app that allows you and us to access important information quickly. The Famly app allows you to contact us with information making it an easy and convenient way for you to speak to the relevant nursery staff. You can report sickness, holidays, and update permissions, without the need for paperwork or a phone call. You will have access to pictures, videos, observations and announcements via the newsfeed, your child’s profile, and direct messages.

  • Parents will also receive updates on what their child has eaten, their sleep, and any nappy changes throughout the day.
  • You will also have the option to pay directly in the app using Famly Pay.
  • The Famly app is easy to use and navigate and you will receive your login when your child enrols with us.

In our opinion, the app not only permits a richer learning journey than its paper equivalent but also offers a more secure way to record and share these learning journeys. The app also makes it easier and quicker for a key workers, room leaders and managers to complete paperwork which therefore gives them more time to spend quality time with your children.

Here is the link to the Famly Parent Help Centre which discusses how you can get the most out of the app.
