Aigburth Nursery

Honey Pot Aigburth is a large detached house situated on Aigburth Road in South Liverpool and opened its doors to the public in July 2007.  The nursery is situated in a leafy residential area within close proximity to a range of bus stops and a train station.  To the rear of the building is a garden area which the children have access to throughout the day, in addition, we have a baby garden which is fenced securely to allow uninterrupted outdoor play for the younger children in our care.  The children also have access to local parks within the vicinity which are visited as often as possible.

Opening times

The nursery is open Monday to Friday from 8am until 6pm. Morning sessions run from 8am until 1pm and afternoon sessions run from 1pm until 6pm. The nursery is closed on weekends and bank holidays. The nursery also closes at 1pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve where they fall on a weekday.

Facilities

  • The nursery has a sensory room in which the children are able to spend time with their key group to explore all of their senses.  There are a wide variety of resources such as bubble tubes, treasure baskets, lighting, sensory resources and a large fish tank.
  • The children benefit from local trips out using our specially designed ‘turtle bus’.  This six seater pram means that children can be safely taken on visits around our local area such as to local parks & shops.
  • Our older children also benefit from local trips out using our walk-o-diles which is a much safer alternative to traditional walking ropes/reins.
  • We have access to our own minibus which allows us to plan trips further afield and transport the children accessing forest school.
  • We provide extra activities for the children to enjoy as well as the wonderful experiences they have on a daily basis including caterpillar music, childrens yoga, diddikicks, gardening sessions & French sessions.
  • We have a qualified forest school leader who delivers forest school sessions to our pre-school children on a weekly basis.
  • EYlog – An online learning journal where you will receive daily updates of your child’s day in nursery and their progress in their learning & development

Outdoors

All our outdoor areas have been redeveloped to incorporate more natural resources and physical development in outdoor play. Here at Aigburth, we have a spacious garden area to the rear of the building, as well as an additional baby garden. This allows children of all ages to have access to the garden in a safe environment during the day. The Garden supports all seven areas of learning, so there are opportunities for the children to be physical, carry out mark-making, enhance their mathematical skills and much much more through areas such as the mud kitchen, sandpit, a literacy cottage, water area & open-ended resources for the children to use their imagination! We are an ‘all-weather nursery’ and provide the children with waterproof suits which means they can access outdoors whatever the weather! Our baby garden includes access to their own sand & water play stations, a cosy den & many sensory resources to explore. A gardening teacher comes in fortnightly to plant and grow different plants and vegetables with the children. We have our own minibus that allows us to take children on trips further afield and takes children to forest school lessons weekly.
