Retaining our excellent staff is our utmost priority and as such we ensure they’re rewarded for their hard work and dedication to Honey Pot. Staff rewards and incentives help to maintain a consistent and happy team, dedicated to providing outstanding care.
We have very high standards and expectations of our team. We facilitate their continuous professional development in a variety of ways for example, through rigorous induction processes, ongoing supervision and award-winning training opportunities and programmes for all of the team from nursery cooks through to nursery managers. All of our staff are in receipt of an enhanced DBS check and are trained in safeguarding, food hygiene and behaviour management. We recognise the importance of staff training in paediatric first aid and as such have made the huge commitment to ensuring that 100% of our staff team are trained in paediatric first aid. We have achieved Millie’s Mark accreditation which was awarded to our group to recognise our strong, ongoing commitment to excellence in paediatric first aid. We have recently worked with the Oliver King Foundation to receive defibrillator training and made the investment to purchase a defibrillator for each of the nursery settings to protect not only our service users but also the local community.
We also have a Central Support Team consisting of Area Managers, Quality and Training Manager, a Food and Nutrition Manager and a Finance Team and Accounts and HR manager. They have a wide range of skills and experience which provide invaluable assistance to our nursery managers and directors which enable them to focus their energies on delivering excellent childcare.

Our History
Honey Pot Nursery Aigburth was established in 2007 by Julie and Tony Hurst. Using their combined expertise in the Early Years sector and business management, they decided to take the plunge and open their first nursery. Tony had spent many years running a successful catering business. Julie had spent years working as a nursery manager in a variety of nursery settings across Liverpool.
The nurseries have been very much a family affair from the very beginning as their youngest daughter Melissa joined them in the nursery in 2007 to gain her childcare qualifications. The following year, their eldest daughter Jenna joined the team during her degree studies in Early Years. Jenna and Melissa are both childcare qualified and have young children of their own, who all attend Honey Pot Nursery and enjoy having their say and opinions included in every day nursery life. Both Jenna and Melissa’s husbands, Michael and Demetri are involved in the running family business.
The family are involved in each of the nurseries every day, they do not manage from a distance and are most definitely ‘hands on’ owners.
Our Philosophy
At Honey Pot, we are influenced by a number of key childcare theorists and pedagogy. Taking parts from Reggio Emilia, Te Whariki with a sprinkle of Montessori and Steiner approaches. We are underpinned by a vision for children that they might be confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit and filled with curiosity and wonder of the world. Our approach is simple, it is our job at Honey Pot to ignite children’s imaginations and curiosity so that they shall enjoy self-directed learning and be thoroughly engaged in play and as a result, deep and purposeful learning shall inevitably take place.
We appreciate that choosing a nursery for your child is an incredibly important decision. We do not take lightly the trust parents place in us when they leave their precious children in our care.
